Recruitment goes national
It is critical to the success of the Code that it is able to draw together a list of members from across the nation. The Code is now in an active recruitment phase that involves a number of key strategies.
When the Code was first released in mid-2010 it quickly received almost 100 signatories. In many ways this was an enthusiastic first response. Much more can be done now that the Code has more resources in staff and marketing funds.
John Oster is taking every opportunity to travel and meet with Artists, dealers and galleries across Australia.
One of the priorities is to enlist the support of the leading institutions and arts agencies in Australia in a demonstration of their support for the principles of the Code and their leadership of the entire arts sector.
Artists are also important signatories. Important work has been done through Ananguku Arts to bring a strong body of Artist support from the APY Lands in SA. John has also attended Artist meetings in Cairns, Tennant Creek and will soon travel to Fremantle to enlist Artist support from WA.
