Vivien Anderson has over twenty six years’ expertise in the field of Australian Indigenous art. In 1985 after returning from London where she produced documentaries for Virgin Records recording artists, she became the Manager of the Aboriginal Artists Gallery in Melbourne. She then managed and directed several acclaimed contemporary mainstream art galleries in Sydney and Melbourne, including Deutscher Gertrude Street, Melbourne, Deutscher Brunswick Street, Melbourne, each with a particular emphasis on equal representation of Australian Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, then co-directed the Aboriginal and Pacific Gallery in Sydney with Gabriella Roy.
In 1999 and 2000 Vivien Anderson produced two major Indigenous Art Auctions for Deutscher Menzies.
Vivien Anderson Gallery was established to encourage and nurture Australian Indigenous artists to achieve success and recognition in Australia with a recent focus on the international arena through staging exhibitions featuring gallery artists in the United States of America.
Vivien Anderson is a registered Valuer for insurance and donation under the Tax Incentives for the Arts or Cultural Bequest programs of the Commonwealth Government of Australia for Aboriginal paintings, sculpture and textiles from 1900 to the present day.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Media Studies and Anthropology, Deakin Unversity, Victoria and a Graduate Diploma in Media Production, Victoria University.
