John Oster
John is the Executive Officer of Desart, the Association of Central Australian Aboriginal Art and Craft Centres. He has been involved in arts administration for almost 20 years and has worked in the Aboriginal art sector since 1997. He has managed significant Art Centres at Balgo and Mowanjum.
John was an inaugural member of the steering committee set up to manage development of the code of conduct in 2005/2006. This work involved a partnership between Desart, ANKAAA, NAVA and the Australia Council and produced the first consultative process and draft material for the current code. Since that time, he has continued to be a strong advocate for the code within the sector, with government and across the community.
